The San Diego County Public Defender Will Help With Expungements.
If you are completely broke and unemployed, but need an expungement to clear up a criminal record, the San Diego County Public Defenders Office may be able to help.  You have to meet poverty requirements, but they do allow people to apply for their expungement help with online forms.

If Your Car Was Impounded:
If you lost your car due to impoundment after an arrest for driving without a drivers license, don't waste your resources trying to get your car out.  You cannot drive without a valid drivers license.  Instead focus your efforts on getting your drivers license back so you can drive legally.

Use an Attorney to Clear a Warrant:
In San  Diego County, the court will allow attorneys to recall warrants by faxed request if there has not been a bail forfeiture.  This means that an Attorney can often get common DUI warrants (from a missed court date), and most bench warrants recalled the same day.  And although clearing a warrant is often the focus of a person in trouble, the truth is warrants come from pending cases, and the underlying case needs to be resolved even after the danger of arrest from a warrant is done.

Contact the DMV Driver Safety Office for Info on the Status of Your Drivers License:
Our attorneys have found that the  most effective way to determine if a drivers license is suspended or valid is to call the DMV driver safety office, which is different than the local offices.  Their contact info is on the DMV Web Site.

Look Up Your Case On Line Before Going to Court:  San Diego County has excellent online access to court case info from their web site, and the San Diego County Sheriffs office provides great access to warrant info (without case details).  You can also look up vehicle and penal code violations before you go to be fully prepared.
