Self Help Resources for Alameda Traffic and Criminal Court Problems
Summary: Links to traffic court resources in Alameda County and bay area, Public Defenders Office, DMV driver safety office, traffic and criminal courts, sheriff's office, etc.
Alameda County Superior Court
This court has a separate Criminal and Traffic Court Division. If you are looking for information on a warrant or criminal case, you may have to check with both divisions. This court (unlike more sophisticated courts like Ventura, Sacramento, San Diego, etc) is unable to provide online access to court case and warrant info. They just dont know how to do it. What takes 15 seconds in San Diego Superior Court takes hours in this court. You must call or visit. Telephone calls to this court are likely to result in extreme headaches and wasted time. We recommend going in person to get information.
Alameda County Public Defenders Office
This County Agency of attorneys provides criminal defense representation for indigent (poor) persons charged with crimes in Alameda County. Appointment of the public defender by a judge is required before a public defender attorney can help a defendant. To get a public defender, a person must meet financial limitations as defined by the court. (510) 272-6600.
Alameda County Sheriffs
This is the law enforcement agency that administers and serves warrant issued by the court.
Skip the horrible war movie music at the beginning and you might find some useful information.
Department of Motor Vehicles Driver Safety Office
This division of DMV is the division that handles drivers license suspensions, including hearings on DUI suspensions, 40509.5 holds, and suspensions due to negligent driver points.
